Four Photos That Will Make You Want To Visit The Taoist Temple of Cebu


The Taoist Temple is one of the local popular tourist attractions in Cebu City. Aside from nature-tripping in South Cebu, marine sanctuary in Olango Island, La Vie Parisiene, and big malls,  Cebu is also rich in ancient shrines and historical heritage worth visiting. Situated at the Beverly Hills subdivision in Cebu City, I've read that this site was built in 1972 by the Chinese community in Cebu.  Getting there is easy. Getting to the top of the  temple is a bit exhausting since it is elevated about 300 meters above sea level and the stairs are pretty steep. 




The shrines are colorful with mostly red,blue and green tones. Pagoda-like roofs with dragons are eye-catching too and will make you amazed by the ancient architectural perspective of the Chinese. Picture-taking with altar and the saints is prohibited. They even had guards per shrine to make sure you don't. The murals on the surrounding walls and altar arrangement is a work of art. It's solemn, quiet and sacred.  
If you are into dragons and has interests in knowing ancient cultures and religions like Taoism,  then this place is good for you. The temple is open to worshipers and tourists who wants to experience the zen life at the Taoist Temple. Since the place is elevated, you can have a relaxing view of Cebu City.  



 The place has a spacious balconies for the guests to chill, chapel, library, a souvenir shop and a wishing well pictured above. I have been to The Bell Chinese Church in Baguio City, it was also elevated, wider with a lot of shrines within the compound but the ambiance and the relax factor is the same. 


Getting there : 


You can start your journey at the JY Square as your landmark, getting there is easy. Beverly Hills is one of the high-end subdivisions in the city. I kinda like the neighborhood though, no traffic and with a lot of trees, perfect for de-stressing.
