Second tier of Cambugahay Falls |
The next stop of our Siquijor island tour is the majestic Cambugahay Falls. Just a few meters from the San Isidro Labrador Church lies the magnificent view of a clean and cool waterfalls.
Third tier of Cambugahay Falls |
Travelers enjoy swimming at the cool waters of Cambugahay Falls. It has three-tiers which runs about 3 kilometers downstream. The last tier is a bit deep where it has a vine attached to a nearby tree where anyone can swing their way to the water.
135-stone steps on the way to the waterfalls |
Getting there is quite challenging since you have to endure climbing down the long stone-steps down from the main road. It leaves you breathless by the time you reach the third tier of the waterfalls.
Second tier of the falls |
The second tier happens to be my favorite. The way the water cascades from the watershed, natural springs and little forests of the higher mountains gives an amazing sight to behold. The small rapids provides a relaxing back massage and cools you.
Second tier whose light rapids could ease your stress away |
Small swimming lagoons on the second tier provide complete relaxation. Wading on the clear and cold waters while enjoying the serene green environment enveloping the whole area makes you feel at peace and appreciative.
Cool second tier |
Cambugahay Falls is free for the public, however, tourists must pay about P20 for parking fees and P20 for the local guides to assist you and I think that's where they got funding to maintain the area. I'm hoping that the local government will do its best to preserve this natural beauty and never let the urban intrusion lost its magnificence.
